Default Seat Question

Still new to the harley thing and have lots of questions (Dont even have the bike yet) As far as seats are concerned. On my night train I would like to have a comfortable solo seat and also have a seat that can be used for 2 up riding. I guess my question is do most of you guys have two seats that you can take off and switch out. Is that very time consuming? Also, I have heard about the quick release sissy bar is that something that can be done in a matter of minutes? It seems this would be the best of both worlds. Thanks

Default RE: Seat Question

I have three seats: stock, sundowner and C&C solo (on my Deuce). Switching back and forth isn't that big a deal. The C&C is fine for short rides, but my boy and I did a 900 mile trip (he also has a C&C solo on his sporty), and that won't happen again. We're planning on another 1000 mile weekend soon, and you can bet the sundowner will go back on for me, and stock for him. Should take about 10 minutes tops.
As for bags and backrests, I did the HD thing. They can come off, but that's time consuming. I wished I had looked into quick detach a bit further before going stock stuff.

I have two seats for my Softail A LePeraSilhouette (you can look up the seat on the net its not a two up seat but is full size the rear of the seat is not to sit on.. You could but would be uncomfortable... Than i have a two up seat for when the wife rides... The detachable sissy bars work real well (Ihave owned two of them.... For me changing seat only takes a few mins.
Mosty i do this for looks i like the low profle of the LePera than need the bigger rear pad for wifes comfort... Do your homework on seats and get what works best for you. I have said this before a more firm seat like the corbin orLePera in the long run are better seats... They take time to break in so for some the not the most comfortable at first... but over the long haul will pay off. Good luck!

Default RE: Seat Question

I just had my stock '07 Heritage seat customized. They asked what I wanted and I explained it to them. Then they went to work on it. I then took a short ride and still was not quite right. They cut out the seat portion and inserted a gel pad and shaved the back of the seat to give me a little more room. I took a 900+ mile trip this past weekend and the seat was great! The seat looks like original seat from the outside.
