I have a 97 evo softail which I understand has a sealed beam. The problem is that the high beam works fine but the low beam is more like a side light,it's on, but no real brightness. Is this a bulb problem or maybe an earthing problem. Help please.
I would expect it to be more a problem with something on the hot lead to the low beam rather than a ground problem because the high and low beams share a common ground.
The only other "difference" between the two filiments is the switch on the handle bar. One side being the high beam and the other being the low beam. If there soesn't seem to be anything wrong with the connectors at the bulb check the voltage and see if the switch is making a good connection and its allowing \\;\\\\\\;a full 12/13V \\;\\\\\\;to the bulb.
O.K. \\; being a bit of a dummy when it comes to electrics,I've just realised there are two bulbs in the unit,I presume the main bulb is for high and low beam and the other bulb is for park. When I switch on,the park light comes on but nothing from the main bulb until I switch to high beam.I\\;m now thinking I need a new sealed beam.
