mabe someone can help,tring to install harley mirrors .How tight can i tignten the bolt with out dammage .

I put them on just tight enough to keep them from moving around. If you drop the bike, the mirror might move instead of snapping off.

sorry to step in on your post but has anyone ever taken the glass out with out breacking it? i want to powdercoat my new set of mirrors

loose enough to move them with moderate pressure, tight enough not to loosen through vibration. Make sence? I guess the best way is to start loose, ride it, and go a little tighter until it stops vibrating loose.

so could that mean that really super-tight torque on the acorn nuts could cause the vibrations? Right now I have horrible vibes running through the mirrors but I have not tried your latest suggestion which I think makes great sense....thanks!

Probably not, I do it to keep the mirror stem from breaking on impact. The vibration is coming trough the bars, some people fill them with silicon caulk to reduce bar vibration, but I haven't done it personally.
