&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;I think credit is due to Nightrider for building what looks to be a quality part that most of us non mechanical/electrical people can benefit from its specific use.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;I still would like to&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;know if any dyno HP gains were achieved.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; It makes sense that it would by lowering the air/fuel ratio to getting it closer to HP levels (not quite 13 to 1 but 13.8).&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Than adding AC and slip ons or pipes&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;could increase more??????
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Does anyone have results???

my point exactly, why spend the extra money. spend the 99 cents and save up for the rest like i did. I got 11hp and 9lb tq when it was dyno tuned. After doing the 99 cent mod i had no heat and can touch the top of the engine after a ride. I am sure the engine was happy.
&nbsp\\;
TK - you make two points throughout this thread.&nbsp\\; One - not to use the XIED, and to go wideband.&nbsp\\; And then two - to use the XIED (in the form of a 330 ohm resistor).&nbsp\\; Why playing both sides of the fence?&nbsp\\; I would like to know because I will soon have my motor broken in and I will be looking at all the options.

I run the V&H FuelPak w/Duals & 0vals,JET A/C on my 08 Ultra.I have tried the XIEDs & like the IEDs better because of at least 5mpg better gas milege.W/O the FP the Xs would be my choice.Regards,Tom

HDFXCW, I installed the X's on my FXCW two days ago when I installed the Roland Sands Trackers. The front plug is under a plastic cap(follow the wire from the ox sensor). The rear plug can be accessed by removing the battery, then the plastic battery enclosure(simply pull up and it comes out). The bike runs and idles fine. Haven't put many miles on the bike since the install, but all seams well. To me, it's worth the money to get a product that looks like a HD stock part. The build quality is really great. I do all my own work, but when someone has something this good, spend the money.

Thanks everybody for all the info. Gives me lots to think about. Probably will order the Xied - I like the plug and play, not electrically inclined no radio shack for me. Mechanical yes - electrical no.&nbsp\\;

the xied is not the 2 resistors. the ied is not the 2 resistors. how to build the ied and the 2 resistors are&nbsp\\;on the nightrider website so blame me for their posting it.

My point was to use the 2 resistors untill you had the money to do it right with a full fuel management. I am sure the xied and the ied work well for a temp fix but there are cheaper ways.

&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;I bought a set of Xieds to see what all the hipe was about.
on a 100% stock&nbsp\\;RoadGlide 07 with 16,000 miles bike that was running just fine as it was.
Xied's did make the bike run a bit stronger in roll on.
Bike sounded different a deeper tone.
As for cooler a very small amount something you had to measure you sure could not tell by feeingl.
Fuel milage dropped a bit couple MPG.
I liked the way my bike ran with them, even though I really did not need any more power the little bump they gave it did feel good.
I am keeping them but have removed them for now I wanted to ride some without them to get a objective feel of how the bike runs with out them.
IED's just do not change the ATF enought to do much of anything.
The real down and dirty is we change our bikes because we want to they sure do not need to have anything done to them. You do not need a stage one to save your bike it will run and give you many miles of service if you just leave it alone. I have gone both ways with my HD's I have had no problems with the ones that have been left as is.
But thats so hard to do with all this neat stuff to play with Pipes ,AC, fuel managers, race tuners
tripple plated gold platium plugs and of course all those super fuel additives that will amaze you.
Heck them smoke colored turn signals I put on mine last week added at least 8 HP and the 2 hp&nbsp\\;I got from the flame derby cover thats 10 more HP.
Less time messing with it&nbsp\\;more time riding means more cash in the pocket and a lot more fun

There have been some questions about HP and dynotune with the nightrider IEDs.&nbsp\\; In a nutshell these produce a voltage offset shifting the baseline A/F ratio during closed loop operation.&nbsp\\; The O2 sensors still operate in a "narrow band"&nbsp\\;just at a different value, this case more rich.&nbsp\\; There should be zero&nbsp\\;HP increase since&nbsp\\;your are only adding fuel.&nbsp\\; Once you open up the throttle&nbsp\\;the O2s disengage.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;A dyno tune with these would be a titanic waste of money.&nbsp\\; I have a friend who runs them and his bike runs cooler.&nbsp\\; Hats off to nightrider for making some money off this simple design.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
FYI I have seen them on ebay for $40.&nbsp\\;
