Default RE: O2 IED vs XiED

&nbsp\\; More air (low restriction air filter, Big sucker, K&amp\\;N, SE) and less restrictive exhaust (Rush,V&amp\\;H, etc...))&nbsp\\; =&nbsp\\; more air into the cylinder requiring more FUEL into the cylinder like using a XIED that tells the ecm that it is leaner by changing the voltage to the ecm thru the 02 sensor lead= more HP.&nbsp\\; Do I have this wrong?&nbsp\\; I thought they lower your A/F ratio closer to 13.8 instead of 14.7 making it get closer to the best HP output of 13.0 to 1.
&nbsp\\;I know this is splitting hairs, but shouldn't it add some HP.
&nbsp\\;Most say that they sound (exhaust is louder due to more combustion pressure, a/f being added)&nbsp\\;better and feel that they can cruise better (with less effort) since using XIED's. I would think that means they must have&nbsp\\; a slight bit more hp to do so.
&nbsp\\; I had only asked if anyone had ever dynoed this result.
&nbsp\\;As for codes, the ecm thinks it is lean with the XIED's installed and kick the codes out (131/151) than richen the fuel mix.&nbsp\\; But all along it still thinks it is lean.
&nbsp\\;I don't think it causes any harm to have the codes. A more knowledgeable person would need to&nbsp\\;address that area.
&nbsp\\; Just my $.02

More juice than the stock super lean mixture will give a hp gain, thats a given in my view, motor runs cooler and more efficiently so you will have an increase in horses.
The only way to find out how much is to dyno the bike without and then again with the X's

Now a question for you guys in the know as far as the resistors are concerned.
I am in the UK and getting stuff over here from the US is a pain in the a$$ due to our import taxes.
So can anyone help me out with the size of resistor that is nesissery to do this mod myself and try and get the ratio to as close to 13.0 as i can.
I might add this is for a new XR1200 Sporty i have bought over here in the UK a month or two back.
As far as i know it has the same set up as the big twins when it comes to the EFI set up, i have already fitted a pair of supertrapp universal mufflers and want to cool the motor down a touch.
Had HD's for 23 years, all big twins (also got a 2000 carburated softail) but this is my first injected HD.
Thanks in advance.

XIED'S have worked great for me changing the AFR from 14:9 to 13:5 which is the perfered AFR on Carb models. 12:1 IS WAY TOO RICH..period. I have done exhaust and intake modes and have ran with and with out XIED's and bottom line I run with them. I can be in 6th gear now at 48 to 50 mph. With out XIED's you need to be going 60 to 65 mph to be in 6th gear. 6th gear saving fuel...hrmmm. I run with NO fuel management system.

Thumbs up Xied's

Dito on what SAS says. I have ran the XIED's for over 7000 miles now. On my ride to Sturgis from Florida and back ( over 5300 miles round trip) I got 52-54 mpg and did a lot of crusing at 75-85 for 100 miles at a time. I run Short Shots, SE/AC, XIED's. No more pinging or fried thighs!! I'm a believer!!

go to the Electrical/Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel Injection section. There's a huge thread that started in the Spring. You will find all the info you need there.

I built my own IEDs. Can;t say that the heat really decreased significantly. But, my throttle response is definitely noticeable. I basically have stock bike with just a K&N 3909 A/C..

BTW, I built these for the fun of it, and not to save money!! Allows you to get to know your scoot doing this stuff....

Fuel management is only as good as the dyno man. Good luck there!

Sorry midas, I wish I could be more help. I'm computer challenged and I dont own a dyno. No confidence in so called tuner dudes. To me a bike should be able to be fine tuned with about 3 pulls on the dyno. (45 min.) rather than 3 to 4 hrs. and then you get the, try that out and see what that does. If I could have a couple more hours I can get ya a little more. Sure like to own a dyno.
