got an '01 softail standard.... and the primary is leaking....i removed everything necessary to remove the cover, but this thing DOES NOT want to come off... any suggestions? ....I bought the bike used last year....think someone used an adhesive of some sort?
i'm gonna get in there and adjust the tensioner.... anything else i should be aware of while doing this?
LOL I had to ask!

If it was me I would take a thin gasket scraper and carefully try and wedge it in between to pry it off.... [:@]

Usually if something like this happens to me I'll just drink a little more and then get the torch and cut it off, and then have to go buy a few new parts!

You have to take off the bolts that the chain tensioner inspection cover has because one or two of them holds the primary cover attached to the inner primary. When you remove these bolts you'll can take the primary cover off.
you were absolutely right, javi!...thanks....at 12:00 and 3:00 on the tensioner cover... primary cover came right off
