Advice on some changes - Fatboy
I have laced wheels and, to be honest, love the classic look. Laced wheels are cheep, well balanced, and adjustable, three pluses that I beleive are very important for ride comfort and durability. I know that the mags and laser cuts are cool, but are they really worth the cost?
Screamin' Eagle mufflers are cheep and easy to attatch. You can spend alot or a little, but the SE mufflers will get you a nice sound that is not to loud, but will raise a loud bark when you hit the throttle. I agree with above poster, though others may disagree, doing the intake and remap is a must. Plan on either doing all three at once, or do the intake and remap first, then replace the mufflers. I did the mufflers first, and found myself at the stealership within three days doing the intake and download. Relieving the back pressure on a stock motor causes a loss of much of the low end torque (which is where HD's are ridden), resulting in running the RPM's considerably higher to obtain stock performance. Running mufflers only will cause the bike's stock lean condition to worsen, CVO injectors. The stock injectors are junk, and Harley knows this. They havn't issued a recall, because they don't want to obsorb the cost of replacement for all '06 bikes. The stock injectors run fine with the throttle open, but do not supply enough fuel off idle and at low RPM, resulting in a rough and jerky ride. Since you have to throttle the bike and feather the clutch to get beyond the rough spot in the motor, your gas mileage will suffer. I think that as more people get the CVO's installed, you will hear of improved off idle performance and gas mileage.
Peace!!!
