what would help stop shaking in the front end at high speeds on a 05 softail standard?
what is the best windshield for this model?

Have you had it lower at rear or changed the tyres lately. Check the tire pressure also. Sometimes what you do at the rear will affect the front.

wasn't someone also saying they had a bad shake in their softail because some stock bolt broke off in the front end?

I believe it was the clamp bolt for the down tube in the triple tree.

Search for "Front end clanging / clanking".

If you get a windshield, try and get one that is height adjustable. I have a quick disconnect windshield for my duece that is not adjustable for height and the turbuluence at highway speed is very annoying, so most of the time I do without. I have heard alot of mentioning about the windvest but do not have any firsthand experience but that is what I wish I would have checked into more.
