My Heritage is getting close to the initial service mileage. \\; My appointment won't be until 2 more weeks as the dealer is full until then. \\; Can I ride safetly without causing any harm to the engine until my service or should I limit my mileage. \\; I have a run tomorrow that I want to go on, but worried about putting to many miles on over the 1000 mark. \\; Please advise. \\;
You'll be fine on the ride. \\; Going over the 1000 mile mark isn't too bad as long as you don't get too far over it. \\; The dealer will check all your grease points and change your fluid levels. \\; I just had mine done on my Rocker and they found a bolt loose on the brake caliper so I would check those out first but I would enjoy the ride. \\; I had 1200 on mine when it went in and they didn't say a single word. \\;
 \\;
Just check your fluid levels and enjoy the ride.
the extra few miles over won't matter. they should check all your fasteners, etc. including the oil change. you can get a list of stuff they do, and make sure its been done for the money.
the 1000 mile service is basically a $250 oil change. cha ching!
 \\;
There is allot more to it than just an oil change. \\; Look at the owners manual, better to get the service manual. \\; I always do my services myself, and the 1st one is critical. \\; Everthing has loosened up at this mileage. \\; Gotta adjust the belt, steering head, change all lubes, etc.
I've done my own service since I got my bike. They usually put the new guys on oil changes and stuff anyway. How good do you think the service really is?
I just had my 1000 mile service and they did more than just change the oil..From day one i've been telling them the bike felt "choked" yesterday they did the service and the bike runs \\; 10x better than before,i remember the finance guy saying you need to come back for the 1k because they do some thing with the ecm added download?bike feels great now no more sluggishness at all.i thought the bike was under powered for 96ci now no way..
