 \\;I just recently bought my first Harley ( I have wanted one for 20 years) . 2000 Heritage Classic, and I think I want to get it "closer to the ground". What is involved in lowering it? is it just a matter of replacing the shocks ? Please help.
Just added the HD profile low lowering shocks, pretty easy, got a used set for $75 bucks from a forum member. \\; There was some selling on ebay for $175.00 ($350 MSRP). \\; Simple bolt in application, need a lift and some wrenches (14mm, 17mm, 19mm). \\;
You may want to consider how much this will affect your cornering ability without scraping the floorboards. \\; If you're mainly a flatland rider, you won't notice probably, but here in WV, it wouldn't be feasible.
Make sure you check with your dealer for some low profile takeoffs if you want to go that route. Never know if someone who had a deluxe went air ride or another type of shock. You could pick those up cheap from the dealer or ebay usually has them for 100 or so.
Don't go with the Ultima adjustable shock. In my opinion, you get what you pay for.
