Default Couple Questions

OK, I have the HD detachable backrest mounts. Took one saddle bag off and noticed that the mount WILL NOT work with the stock bags on my Heritage!

So did I get the wrong mounts, or do they make something I do not have for re-mounting the bags???

And I thought this was going to be easy...lol

They make something you do not have. And when you get it........ you'll love how fast your bags go on and off! You probably need docking hardware. Below is a link to the type I have. I'm sure there are others and less expensive places.

Nice colors! Same as mine.....lol

Yeah, I am wanting to get the detachable bags also, but right now I just wanted to get my backrest detachable brackets on. There is a saddle bag mount bolt right in the middle of where the detachable backrest mount goes.

Do I have the wrong mounts? I am going to try and ad a picture of mine:

You'll need the kit for p&a saddlesbags. It is a different docking hardware kit. The part #'s are listed in the HD big book. If you don't have a copy let me know what bike you have and I'll look it up. Just did mine a few weeks ago. Mine also called for turn signal relocation kit but it can be done with factory turn signals. I saved $25 & regained the original turn signal brackets.

My backrest brackets have a slot in the middle to fit over that bolt. I just looked at the HD site and it looks like there's no slot anymore? Hmmm..... Maybe they have some new system for the bags? You have a Heritage? What year? Maybe we're fading into the obsolete catagory. I bought my hardware and brackets from HD back in 2002.

I have a 2002 Fatboy. My bags are Hd but were added and are not original equipment. The sideplates for the Heritage are different than mine. I'm not familiar with the way heritage bags mount. My docking hardware fits between the fender strut & bag and uses the saddlebag mount bolts. The kit includes longer bolts. My sideplates don't have a slot to go around a bolt.

The mounts should have came with the sideplates when you bought them.
