My Wild1 500 Bars will be delivered today, so I called my local stealer for a labor quote and he said 4-5 hours! Is he f@#$ing high or does it really take that long?

The freaking bars were only $200+. I typically do most work myself; but I think in order to run the wiring through the bars I need to pull each pin out of the connectors. I've got no patience for that.

I bought some StreetSlammers bars a while back and I remember that all the shops around said it was going to be expensive and nobody could do the job for at least a week so I decided to do it myself.

I used my manual and I got a lot of helpful tips from members on this forum. I'm not the most mechanical person around but with some basic tools and some patients the job went really smooth.

I think the entire process took me about 5 hours.

I have seme pictures of the job around here somewhere. If you decide to do it yourself, start a thread and you'll be surprised at all the help you'll get. Meanwhile, I'll look around for those pictures.

The stock bars are "killing" my neck & back; so I'm in somewhat of a hurry to install the Wild1 bars. Do you think it'll be okay to not run the wiring through the bars for the time being? I assume that is the most time consuming/labor intensive part of the install.

aviscomi, patience or $$$. Which do you prefer?? If you do work on your scoot, then I suggest INSTALL YOURSELF! Yes, to do it right I would pull the pins from connectors. It's not that time consuming. I did my Deluxe, even made extender wires. Took about less than an hour to pull the pins with a paper clip. ****, with the money you save, you can do SS cables and stuff.... Of course, I did SS cables, tach, Heater Demons, Grips, .. in the winter. So I had plenty of time... good luck..

I did my apes with a buddy, they were quoting well over 1k to do it. We extended the wiring and installed all new SS cables and brake line. It took awhile, but it was the first time we had both tried it. It is very doable. If you have a very small flat head screw driver you can pull the pins pretty easily. All dealers rape you on the labor for handlebar installs, maybe b/c they know the stock ones suck.

Do it right the first time or you will regret it later on. It's not that big of a job and if you don't want to pull the pins then cut the wires and solder them back.... but run the wires thru the bars. it's not that hard. I used a coat hanger to fish a string thru tied to the wire bundle and coated the shrink tube with a non petroleum lube. Slide right thru no problem.

You will need an extension kit and you should also get the Poly riser bushings.

Don't do it half azzed though.

It takes some time but when your done you will have $$$ in your pocket. I had to run each wire one at a time through my bars. looks alot better then on the outside.

I have installed internal wiring on 4 seperate bikes Sporty,Dyna and 2 Softails one 1991 and the other a 2005 the 05 was the easiest of all the bikes and the pins on the connectors is one of the easiest parts to do, just make a diagram of where the pins go and take your time piece of cake
