On my 2008 Train...its behind the rear splash/mud guard.

If it is the same as my 05 Fatty it will fit under the seat on top of the factory ECU if you use the supplied pocket that comes with the PCIII.

08 fxstc---slid mine in on the right side in back of fuse box lays under the seat perfect.

For your guys puttin it behind the splash guard.... Mine was there and it took a pretty good beatin due to the suspension travel. Yours may be OK but take a look at it. I moved mine under the seat. MikeM
