The Corbin Dual Tour seat, HD leather bags, and the new ez release windshield make the Deuce a nice day rider for 150 miles. Rode to work for 9 years on my 2000 Deuce, and weekend 150 milers. Deuce is very comfortable.
But if you are looking for a dedicated long distance rid, get a Road Glide. My RG is replacing my Deuce for the +150 rides, and keeping the Deuce for cruzing and commuting to work.
I rode a sporty for years and I started thinking like you...I stepped up to a heritage...and kicked myself for a few weeks for not doing it years earlier..don't get me wrong sporty's are all good but man nothing like the ride of a bigger bike...just my 2 cents worth
congrads on the new ride. when i read purple i thought uuhohh. but that is A LOT better than what i pictured. i ride with a bud that has a purple machine. it really grows on you and you don't have to worry about seing a mirror image of your bike multiple times in a day.
I love my Deuce, & I think you would too. That being said, if your two up riding is going to entail more than a night or two on the road, I would think real hard about getting an older bagger. My 2 cents.
I loved my Sporty more than a fat kid loves cake, but man it is time to upgrade. The Deuce is an awesome looking bike, but I think people are perhaps correct; a different Softail may save you some money in the long run. If you have your heart set though, the Deuce will do just fine.
I have a Cross Bones and everyone is saying how it won't be a good touring bike. Compared to my 03 Sporty (the last year of non-rubber mounted engines) it is nothing. The bike is what you make of it.
