Adjusting Progressive 422?
I recently had a new set of 422s installed on my Deluxe. I didn't lower it at all as I already bottom out easily enough and I like to run hard in the twisties. I just wanted the handling performance for more stability in the turns and a little more comfort. My mechanic said he turned the tension adjuster about halfway out as a starting point. The ride feels firmer to me than the stock shocks, but it is kinda rough on a bumpy road. Also, it almost seems like it is easier to bottom out in turns now, despite less bouncing action than stock. It gets especially low in the turns with my girlfriend on the back compared to before. I weigh about 250 and my girlfriend about 160. I was first thinking that I needed to soften the shocks because they are so rough, but I am beginning to wonder if the harsh ride is because my fat butt is so heavy that I am pushing the shock through the softer part of its travel as soon as I sit down; especially with my girl on the back. So, should I make it firmer to handle my weight? Any of you guys who are experienced with the 422s or know suspension better than me, please chime in. Thanks in advance for any help!
