Default Should my Springer front end do this?

This is something I've noticed and just wanted to verify that it should be this way. When I pull up to a stop it seems like my front end suspension is down about an inch. If I pull up on the handlebars it will pull back up and not sink back down again. I know that, in the process of stopping, I've just put some weight on the front end and compressed the springs. It just seems odd that it will "stick" in that position so I figured I would check on this. I've been riding it for a round a year now, but I guess I hadn't noticed this until now.

Factory Springer? How old? Mine doesn't stick... It springs.

It's a factory front end on a Springer Classic. Hmm. Might have to get that looked into then. The front end doesn't feel stiff as I'm riding so it doesn't "feel" like the suspension isn't working, but it is odd for it to behave that way after I've stopped.

I would get it looked at. My 2007 Springer Classic does not act like that.

Sounds like your rockers are set too tight. Check out your manual and you will see the rockers are set with a dial type torque wrench to give a constant resistance through the whole of the arc they swing in. I'm only guessing but if these are a tad too tight they might be grabbing and stopping at the resting position. You need someone who knows springers to take a look and see if they feel tight.

All the best. Walt

Yep, get it looked at. It shouldn't do that at all.
