Default Softail stock shocks

I was wondering how long stock shocks are good for? Surely it depends on a lot of factors....but do they generally last a good long time? I've got almost 25k miles on my 03. I weigh @225 lbs....prolly 25% of my miles is ridin 2 up and g/f is close to 200 lbs herself. I've adjusted them a couple times, still plenty of thread left for more adjustment.

I weigh about 250 or so and put over 40,000 miles on my 99 Heritage with stock shocks. I have always wondered if new shocks would make a noticeable difference in the ride and handling of a bike that I already am happy with.

Progressive 422's will give the rear end of your bike new life. Night and day difference on absorbing the bumps correctly. The stock shocks are actually very durable and will last a long time, but their ability to correctly dampen the road is on the poor side.

This is a topic I need to address as well. My Heritage bottoms out very easily. As for dampening, well I need to fix the bottoming situation first so that dampening can be judged. Was going to look it up in the manual but it sounds like I need to tighten up the springs. Rear should be straight forward (?) but what about the forks? I have the problem there too.

A couple of buddies have 30k+ on their stock shocks, still good, I ve read stock have around 40k lifespan.
I will relpace mine with progressive 422 when time. I've heard nothing but good about them!

This is the first time I've ever heard this. I was always told that of all the components, Harley skimps the most on the suspension.
