Plooked I love the white walls and always have especially the 21", real nice ride.

Haksaw I have a private practice (no store front). All my clients are hand picked as they find out about me and a lot of the work is custom, no flash.

Damn, those are some sweet bikes!

Cessna172, that's definitely a look that I'd be down with. I dig that rear fender.

So, I just HAD to stop by the local dealer today for a little scouting:

- They had a super sweet Black Cherry Nightrain with a 95" kit for $19,450 otd. A little spendy for my means; got me imagining which banks I could rob on the way home.

- They could do a black Standard for $16,761 otd, but I think I'd rather get silver, so it'd be about $17,000

It seems that these are pretty reasonable prices. Opinions? I'd definitely check out another couple dealers. They're offering $1000 off any bike until the end of the month (the rain's got sales down a bit).

Sheet, how did I all of a sudden get to talkin' about buyin' a new bike??? - Seems like used softails in my area are just over my $11,000 mark.

[sm=teetertooter.gif]MotoMuse,
I will lay out the sensible and the impulsive, so you can see it on paper!

sensible - 1 or 2 year old Softy 11K or so,[sm=teetertooter.gif] leaves you with dough to accessorize, customize and personalize!

impulsive - laying down 19K and not having any dough to start tricking out the ride with!

sensible
impulsive
sensible
impulsive

Ok have fun with the decision making process. And welcome to world of HD!

Thats the great thing about the FXST. You can make any thing you won't out of it from old school like Jackhammer ( which looks awsome!!) To a pro street look look like mine. Your options are limmited to your pocket book!!!!!!

I bought the night train, which is basicly the same bike with black motor and accents, solid rear wheel and a drag bar. I love it. But yeah, as you can see in my pic, there has already been chrome added, I have a new tank and fender set that I want painted, a new seat not pictured, and it goes on and on. Good luck with your purchase, it doesn't really matter what it looks like when you get it, you will make it your own.

Hey, thanks everybody for your replies. Seems like a really great bike. The credit card/mod thing may be an issue for me at this point. I think there's one in my future, though I'm not sure how soon. I'll keep ya posted.
It doesn't have to be right away...

Just one piece at a time.

I've had my standard for a few months, but I just now ordered my intake and pipes. When I get back to the states, they will be there waiting for me.

Moto, Scott is right. Not everyone can spend thousands on their ride when bought. I bought mine new in 2001 and before it left the dealer I put on pegs, grips, SE exhaust and chrome covers here and there. In 2002 it was paint and a seat, 03 saw mini apes, back rest and a lowering kit, 04 nothing really and in 05 fatboy rear fender, matching paint. This year a new front fender and matching paint (soon to come). So you can see I do not have deep pockets and these little changes each year keeps you interested in the bike. The trend seems that if you do it all at once and there is nothing left you could get bored of the bike and sell then start all over again. Thats great if you can do it, I wish I can.

I think it is the best bang for the buck! That said, I would check out as many different models as you can, to see what fits you the best. I'm not much into chrome so the standard or the superglide fit me perfect. The ole hardtail look is what is the seller for me. I have a 2000 and a 2006 standard. I have never had a bit of trouble from the 2000, which has a carb. The 06 is great, but just not sure about this fuel injection..haha...
