Had a 1100 Shadow that rolled off the stand three times while in neutral. Took that many times for me to learn to leave it in gear. Also started using the centerstand, even though it was tough getting it up on it.

The Fatboy hasn't been down yet, and I hope it doesn't. I got worried about the weight on the jiffy stand so cut out an aluminum disk to put under it for support.

Last year I took a quick trip to the hardware store on lunch. I pulled in to the parking space put down the jiffy stand and started to get off. Just as I swung my leg over the seat I cought out of the corner of my eye the jiffy stand going back up. I tried to catch it but being off balance and on 1 leg not much to do but try to slow down the CRASH !!!
All I could think was "Don't hit the tank - Don't hit the tank." Onlt got the derby cover, mirror and rear turn signal. Moral of the story DON'T LUBE YOUR JIFFY STAND !!!
Mine was making a squeeking noise so I lubed it. Noise was gone but the damn thing would retract if you gave it a good fling it would go all the way out, hit the stop and swing right back in. Join the club.

that blows....

I got some great advice from my salesman when I bought my bike. I went over to Iron Pony and got one of their kickstand pucks. It's small enough to fit in my back right pocket. I set the bike on it everytime I drop the kick stand, even on concrete....you never know.

it works great on gravel and loose stone/dirt as well.

Best $1.89 I ever spent.....

Thanks, now I get to upgrade a few parts and try to not let it happen again. I was thinking of a 4"x4"x1/2 piece of wood scrap, but some of your ideas sound good as well. I will have something under it the next time it is parked on gravel or dirt thats for sure.

Hey Joey,

I have a piece of an old street sign cut to about 3" x 4" and the edges rounded and sanded smooth. It works great.

i too had a little misshap with mine falling over too. sixhundred miles into my brand new fatboy, pulling into work, set the stand down stepped off started walking into my bay and then i heard it. the worst sound ever. my bike hitting the ground. i ran over lifted her upright again. at first the only two things i saw wrong where the directional lens popped off, then upon further inspection i found that when the bars flexed the left directional hit the tank and put a perfect little dent in my #3 of 150 custom tank!!!! i wanted to cry!!!!! there is no scratches in it but just a dent, i am still riding it till snow flies then i will take care of it.
So i too know your guys pain!

A buddy of mine had had several bikes, and been riding for almost 30 years. Last year he bought himself a brand new electra glide classic. He had never dropped a bike before, but he has dropped this one at least twice in the year that he has had it.

Sorry to hear about the drop, glad there was no harm to you though. Once that happens, you'll forever be vigilant when you park in the future.
