Crazybast -- Of course you know how much i respect your opinion by now. Your intelligence comes shining through every time you write. Thanks.
Everyone else -- thanks for the suggestions. i was able to run a jumper from the coil to the ignition, then from the battery to the starter and hotwire it. From there I was able to get to a shop where they found the problem. Two wires had been mixed up when i put the wires/pin back into the connectors. Hmmm...could have swore I checked that about 3 times, but....
Anyway...its all good now. And the shop that did it?... told me how to hotwire the scooter to take it somewhere to get it fixed (i don't have a trailer). So I took it to them (they are much farther away from me than other shops) because they were willing to help me out without expecting anything out of it. I ended up spending over $400 to fix the problem and i had them do some other stuff while it was in the shop.
Same thing a few weeks ago when i was going to buy a boat. I called a marine repair shop and asked questions about a boat i was looking at. he told me what to look for and spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me. when we were done, we both thought it was not a good idea to buy it. I thanked him and he said that it was his pleasure and that he hoped he'd been helpful and if and when i do buy a boat i'll bring to him for service work.
Speaking of bottom-feeders... Crazybastid...did you read that? Or maybe you can get someone to read it to you....
BT don't listen to that dude, its really a shame that you can't ask a simple question on the forum without getting ridiculed for it. The point of this forum isn't to get pissy and self righteous with a person you feel "got in over his head", its to try and help each other out. One team, one fight. Maybe you should go over the old adage "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."
bt glad you got her fixed. Hope you didn't take my suggestion as being over top but let me explain I have a Electronics Engineering background and forget sometimes. Ride safe Brotha !
Everyone...thanks a ton for all your suggestions. Sometimes it just worth putting out the bucks to get 'er fixed, but I used to have a '01 Fattie when it was new and though it was reliable, i do kinda enjoy the tinkering on this old one. But yes...this was a little over my head. I thought i'd try the "do-it-yourself" route first cause with all the apes out there, maybe there was something obvious I missed. Anyway...i don't have a trailer so it was worth trying. But in the end, it was worth the money just to get ridin' again Thanks again!!!!!
