Unhappy Softail electric HELP

Hey all; Gotta problem now for three days, hope someone can help. My original starter on my 1989 Heritage just went. I broke out my service manual, purchased a new starter.

Removed teh old one, dropped the oil pan, primary cover, battery ect. Installed new starter, replaced all gaskets, trickle charged battery while it was on teh bench. Replaced everything in order. I have no juice at all to the bike. No lights, no indicators, nothing. The battery is good, teh ohm Meter is registering. The battery is good when tested at the neg terminal and at the frame.
What did I miss, why do I not have any power anywhere on teh bike?

Ive been reading the manuals now for three hours Im whipped out. ANy ideas?

Right now I am thinking fuses & ground. If the battery has juice verifiable then start working forward from their what ever it is, is most likely pretty far 'back' in the electrical system for it to effect everything on your bike.

Welcome to the forum!
Check your fuses yet?
You say "ohm meter"... did you mean "volt meter"? A battery should be tested across the positive and negative terminals with a volt meter. How old is the battery, and how long was it stored "dead" before recharging? A battery can show a good surface charge (12v+) and still fail a test when placed under load (less then 10.5v) such as when your starter is enguaged...

Your Right, Volt Meter, The battery was not dead when the starter fried, it was slow charged while out and sitting on the bench and its been only maybe a week. The battery shows 12v across neg and pos, but I have nothing from there now. When you turn the iginition switch, nothing lights up, no guages, headlight, tail light, nothing. I will go back and start from the starter and work up to the battery and then to all the fuses and relays. Im just frustrated that I pulled out a bad starter and now have other issues that should be an easy fix, Im just missing something along the way. Thanks for all your help.

Make sure that battery is good, try leaving battery in and put charger on it to see if you have power also check main fuses first before pulling starter back out, and did you notice if the solenoid wire had a fuseable link in it? Wire would have been twice diameter than where the terminal end crimps to the wire..if not re-check all power and grounds carefully..You'll find it

Did you hook up the red lead to the 30A circuit breaker and the leads running out to ignition switch?

check fuses naturally, also break open your manual and see how to test your ignition switch

check the big breaker.. I think it's 30A or 40A. I would bet that's your problem.

The problem sounds like a bad ground. You said nothing works. The ground wire is common to all the accessories.
