The stand is designed to lock in when extended with the weight of the bike upon it. Changing that could cause a problem. My Fatboy leaned further than the Sportster, but I got used to it. Nice to have when parked on a slope as well.
yea, same here regarding the slope. i sometimes pull on the platform to my garages sideways, which puts the left side of the bike higher than the right. the bike still leans plenty on the stand.
I also like the fact that when you set the stand and the bike leans that extra bit, you know it's locked in place and safe.
The original owner of my 2005 SE Fat Boy had the HD extended jiffy stand installed. As far as I can tell the only purpose of the extended jiffy stand is the piece that extends making it easier to catch with your heel when pushing it open.
I think it is suppose to be the same length as the stock jiffy stand, but if it is a bit longer that would solve your problem.
My SE bike comes lowered in the rear and doesn't lean over that much. It leans enough that it doesn't seem unsafe.
The oil level is checked with the bike leaning on the stand. I don't think this is a good method since there is so much difference in lean angle between Softails.
