Or you could hit the self-duagnostic mode and remove all the guesswork.

I know it's already been said, but if you're battery connections were loose, then that's probably most of the problem...if not all of the problem. My last bike was a VTX1800, and one of the first things the guys on the VTXOA forums recommended doing, even for brand new bikes, was what they called the ground fix. I don't remember everything they said to do, but I do know that it involved double checking to make sure battery connections were tight as well as making sure that the ground going to the frame was good. I hung around on those message boards for years, and you'd be amazed the number of problems bad battery connections can cause.

Can't remove the guess work when no codes are present.

07Fat Boy, that's the first ting you always look at and the first thing the stealers look at. Now then, this becomes a real problem when SOAR can't find anything wrong! I believe it's because the MoCo doesn't want their people taking the time it would take to test and start replacing parts one at a time. Why??? Because their cheap! I don't believe for one minute the MoCo isn't aware of these issues and don't have the intestinal fortitude to check the known causes to other bikes and then look in that direction for those bikes it happens to. This only tells me they really don't care about their product!

Update:

Removed Turn signal/running light/brake light pig tail. Went on a 140 run, no shut down! This doesn't happen when I leave home on any kind of run, my suspicions are with that mod. Does this mean I found the cause?? I hope so, but I will wait longer to confirm my suspicions with a few more runs. If this is the case, the MoCo should put and advisement on that part that states this item may cause adverse running effects of the engine! Now, how may people are having issues with engine shut down that run this mod HD sells???? I hope people see this thread and remove that item from their bike to see if it resolves their engine shut down while riding issues! On the flip side, is this only a cause with bikes with the security system?? I have the security system! If so, maybe it's sending low or high signals back to the ECM and the security system interprets it as the security system being activated? Don't really know!
