$479.00 for pads and a tire is a bit steep. Tire with labor is usally around $200 and pads, maybe 100 more. Was the service manager smoking a cigerette when you left?

hehehehe!!! funny post!
I was charged $230 for my rear tire at the dealer in my area. That was for the tire, rim strip, new tube, mount/balance, and one hour labor. I shopped around different dealers and indys in my area and they varied from a 100 dollars more, to 40 dollars less than what I paid. I'm happy with the work done. I was gonna take the wheel off myself, but at the time the small savings didn't make sense for me to do it.
I got two tires mounted (on the bike), balanced, wheels trued, tubes, strips, and chassis/steering tube lubed for $98, out the door. Brought in my tires into a small shop ran by a HD certified mechanic...that's who I go to, the small people saving the world!
Just did a 200mm change on the fxstc. Got a deal of $207 CDN and 15 to r&r the rubber and install DynaBeads. I took the wheel off at home and took it in, picked it up after work. All this from a place that sells scooters of all things. Actually got all my accessories there, V&H BSS, pegs, Amsoils, at a much better price than a stealer. For $315 tax included I came home with a new tire, one qt 75/140, 4 qts 20/50, a K&N filter service kit. I think I did ok.
