...I called the local stealer yesterday to see about getting a rear tire put on. The service guy told me it would be $99 for the tire and an hour ($72) for the labor to which I said fine. I asked if I needed an appointment and he said no, just bring it in. So later in the afternoon, I come in and this kid asks if I have an appointment, I answered no I was told I didn't need one. He said, no you don't need one to do tires or oil changes, I said cool. He asked what I wanted to do, I said (again) I want to get a rear tire installed (gritting my teeth). He asked if I wanted to bring it back in the morning, I said I could if they couldn't get to it today but why do they not tell you that on the front end rather than just saying to bring it in. So I left and took it in this morning. They called me about an hour later and said I needed rear pads. I asked how much, he said $35 and no labor so I agreed (even though I change the pads myself) because I'm leaving for Sturgis tomorrow. When I went to pick the bike up, they hit me for .3 hours labor on the pads....not a huge amount but they told me NO CHARGE since they already had the tire off as well as the caliper and I know it doewsn't take an hour to swap a tire out, hell, I've done it myself in my shop with none of the fancy tools in about the same time. These guys are real knuckleheads. Just tell me when to bring it in, how much it's gonna cost and when to come get it. Simple. No B/S. We're all happy. No hidden charges.
They're procedures may be a bit goofy but at least they didn't rip you off. $171 fora rear tire mountedsounds reasonable.
I've paid more at my dealer and brought the tire in on the rim.

That sounds way low for a 402 from a dealer. Labor is probably about right, although I've never had an HD dealer change a tire for me before.
