As Steve Miller once said, "Take the money and run!" I'd sell it, sell the parts on ebay, and make some bucks. Then start shopping for a Road King or maybe a Street Glide. I have a bob and put 1600 miles on it, roundtrip to Daytona plus some excursions, and I can vouch IT'S NOT A TOURER! I love my bike but unless you're willing to take away from it's intended look, it won't make you happy running XC. I need a Road King for the road trips.[] Good luck on the soul searching.

My 2 cents.

I'd take off the parts and sell it. Like others have mentioned.

I have a 06 NTrain and the wife has a 06 Bob. Both have the SERT. and street slammer bars. Hers has the Pyhon duals and lowered rear shocks, mine has the Python 2 into 1. I'll give my take on both bikes. The Bob even tough it has the O2 BS hauls ****. It flat out SCREAMS, probably cause of the 6 speed tranny. It rides a bit rough and shakes like hell. I guess its the rubber mounts. You can't even see out of the mirrors. The mid controls suck but it's the wifes bike. My train is nice and rides smooth. Counter balanced engine I guess. I like the train better cause of the ride on the road.

If it were me I'd sell what you have and the parts on Ebay and put the money down on a new one. That's my opinion.

Here's the deal...I've got an offer on my 05 carb ST deluxe for a fair bit more than I paid. The problem is that I've been working on it for the last 3 weeks making it into what I want it to be. Should I remove all the things I've changed and sell it or just keep it? (new fenders, forward controls)
The other problem is that I don't know what I'd buy if I did sell it. I wouldn't really want another softail as I've not been impressed with the handling or anything about it really. I'd buy a street bob if it wasn't for all the EPA 02 sensor BS.....

any opinions?

ride safe
Has the person who made the offer seen the bike after all the work you've done on it? If so, it's possible that they're expecting the bike to come with all that stuff.. not stock.

Also, I think that most people who buy a HD invest a lot of money into thier ride to make it they way they want it, but have a hard time getting that $$ back on the resale. So.. if you can get out of a bike you're really not enjoying for what you paid.. then do it. There'll always be another bike to buy...
