I bringing this thread alive again...am I missing something? All I do is wash the bike with dish washing soap in warm water....and then use a Chrome polish on my wheels...for everyday cleaning I use Windex. Am I going to be ruining my wheels if I keep this up?
Don't know but would think the factory polished wheels have a coating on them like auto wheels..
Just wondering did U spray anything on them to keep from oxidizing or just have to keep polishing them ever so often.???
Are you telling me how great your chrome wheels are? LMAO
By the way, you live in Maple Ridge BC, don't you? Let's get together for a ride in the future.

The factory solid wheels are not cleared, otherwise they won't get oxidation. I never polished my wheels since the first one, just keep them clean and apply wax before winter storage, still look brand new.

Like I said....I use a lot of Windex not only for my wheels but for my Denim Black paint too. When I want them extra shiny I use chrome cleaner...haven't used wax yet...I just keep them clean I guess and no oxidizing yet but them again the bike is only 2 months old...but have almost 4000K on it...
Off topic a bit..128auto went on a cancer fund raiser ride yesterday to Princeton, BC for the VPD. It was great...long ride though for one day. My partner and two close friends out here go out all the time...my friends have a '09 Fat Bob, '08 Super Glide Custom and of course our beautiful '09 Street Bob. Everyone but me are shift workers, RCMP, Richmond Fire Department and Ecomm worker...hard to get weekends all together but we try. Send me a PM when you are up for a ride....
Cool! I have a Facebook group. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=32240512633 Please join us if you have FB, we go for a ride soon.
You do not need wax for chrome, windex and chrome polish are perfect, I apply wax on my aluminum wheels for winter only. However I found wax helps to seal chrome for long storage, I didn't wax my pipe heat shields last year, one of them got dull.
