How do you clean these things ????
I've had good luck with the Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish and the ball attachment they make for your drill. Meguiar's has one too. Both are good. The ball makes quick work or all the elbow grease. There are videos for both on Youtube and their web sites. Would be especially easy because you have the wheel off.

Don't know if you are interested but since it is off the bike and you live in the great white north, might be a good time to do a chrome swap where you send your wheel in and you get a chrome one back. Last time I looked it cost about $300, or $25,000 Canadian. Another option is having it powdercoated. Cleaning looks like too much work to me as it looks like it has been neglected for too long and I am lazy.

IMO way too many crevices regardless if front or rear...look locally for a set of newer take-offs, or ^^^^ see ***** shiny and trade em out...good luck!!!

Try a can of Nevr Dull. I got some at Advance Auto, but I imagine you can find it at any auto parts store. The can contains pre-moistened little rags, kinda like baby wipes for changing diapers. That's all I use anymore. Works great, and pretty easy because all you do is wipe.
