Or did Harley take 4 giant steps backwards with the '09 Heritage Softail Classic?
> Removing the scuff fender plate for a dinKy chrome lip.
> The "Nike Swoop logo" on the tank.
> Higher handlebars.
> Butt ugly floorboards and Ford Oval brake pedal.
They could have made some improvements such as:
} Optional Cruise Control.
} Addressing the heat issues from lean conditions.
} More attractive paint schemes.
} Passenger floors.
} Engine guard.
} Less chrome on the bags w/more sturdy frames.
} And dual front brakes.
I haven't actually seen the '09 Heritage, but from your description it sounds like they are borrowing a page from the history books - 50s vintage Hydra Glide.
When I was at the dealership about a month ago, they only had 1. I didn't like it at all. I think the reason they don't have twin brakes is to not conceal the wire wheels but you would think they'd at least have twin calipers on the front disc.
