Default Correct Me If I Am Wrong !!!

Correct me if I am wrong!!! These E.F.I. bikes got me wondering?
My last bikes were all carbureted.
I purchased a Rocker C From the stealer with V & H Big Radius, Fuel Pac and high flow a/c.

My gas mileage is terrible, 23 .m.p.g. (I have read many threads on this).
I don’t really care about m.p.g on a bike except that, my friends on sporty’s get there kicks when I fill up more than them. LOL

It is a drag having to get fuel every 115 miles.
So at the recommendation from the stealer I waited until 1k service, which they insisted on doing for the warrantee (a whole other issue).

I usually do all my work my self except for mounting tires on rims (no tire machine).
I do bring my rims in; I don’t trust anyone mounting the wheels on my bike because of a bad experience early on In life.(took bike in for new rubber & pads picked up bike and not to long at 50 mph, rear tire started to slow me down and brakes freeze due to lose & crooked tire.
The place I brought it was next to the freeway so no need for brakes until after the tire stopped me & was fixed on the side of the road.
At my 2nd or so stop, WHOA!!! was the feeling.
Ever try to stop a bike with almost no brake fluid in it?
Kind of feels like anti lock but it doesn’t grab again.

So… doing some product research, it seems V&H dynos bikes and includes the map with the fuel pack.

That would leave me to belive that there is the wrong map dialed in.
One person at the stealer almost tried to sell me a dyno tune, until they knew, I knew about the mapping problem. Then the next person told me.

“You don’t dyno with V & H pipes & fuel pack because the map they give is always correct and you can’t dial them in”

Is this true?
If it is true. How come I see so many on this site in different forums with dyno readings on the V & H pipes & fuel pack?
Is it worth the $$$ to dyno it, or trust V&H?

Sorry for the babbling it’s Sunday and I am lonely.

Check your fuel map and make sure its the right one.V&H will answer all of your question on the phone. They were very helpful.

People dyno their bikes with a fuel pak just to seee how it runs. Adjustments can't be made because V&H will not reveal what their programming is. They won't say what value the numbers have in relation to the programming. I have had the fuel pak and a Power Commander. I won't use either one anymore.

These units almost revert your delphi efi almost into the earlier Morelli efi.

Your poor gas mileage could also be due to the engine breaking in, it usually goes up once broken in. Maybe you are goosing it quite a bit to hear the sound?

Not to thread hijack or anything, but if you don't use either anymore, what is your preferred FI upgrade?

Since the day I installed it I've never had one ounce of trouble from my canned mapped non-dynoed PCIII...I get GREAT performance, no decel pop, AND I get 40 mpg out of my '06 Standard...all a PCIII does is modify the signal from the ECM to adjust fuel/air mix to compensate for your mods...pull the PCIII off the bike and the ECM signal returns to stock...I've heard from more than one HD owner that the V&H Fuelpack is a turd...personally I'd pitch it and go with a better tuner.

My personal opinion is you should put on a SERT and have the bike Dyno'd. You will get the best tune with a dyno. I have an 08 Rocker with V&H pipes, SE Air cleaner, SERT and the bike was dyno'd. It runs excellent.
As for your mpg problem, you didn't say how many miles you have on the bike, but if it makes you feel any better I had the same issue until I had around 800-1000 miles on it. Now I get around 35 mpg. Seriously, it's like the gas mileage practically changed overnight.
You will never get the mileage that a Sportster does (especially if it's an 883).

What little I know about fuel pacs is that you can change the settings on it. My son was going to get one, we went to Indianapolis to a V&H racing center, and one of the wrenches showed us how easy to was to set up and change settings.
As suggested above call V&H to see if you have the right numbers for the settings in the program, if not this could be your gas milage issue. You didnt say how it runs, or if it is rich on the fuel ratio. missing, loading up etc... your plugs should tell you.
23mph is not good in my opion. Unless you run WOT a lot.
My son and I have 07 softails and we ended up going SERT and dynoed. we are both pleased with the SERT, and have had zero issues with our engines.
When new I got 38-40mpg (FLSTC), till stage1 at 1K service and till now mine runs 40-45mpg non hilghway riding.
My son with stage1, V&H BR2-2 like yours and SE204's cams in his Duece and still gets 38-45 and he likes to ripe it every so often..
hoped this helps...

I have heard both good and bad stories about the Fuel Pac. Most of the bad ones seem to center around an improperly installed or wrong map. The same is true for the PCIII, but its easier to "fix" and if you get it from someone like Fuel Moto there is a guy there that really knows his stuff (Jerry I think) and will set it up for you before shipping.
Personally I'm not a big fan of any system that basically runs blind like all of the add-on systems do. That's why I bought a ThunderMax w/Autotune. It can be reprogrammed from any PC or laptop and with the Autotune option actually tries to fine tune itself based on the engines O2 output in the exhaust gasses.

BTW I'm getting about 42mpg and I'm not a guy who likes to just putter around on his bike.

I, like Citoriplus, have heard good and bad about F/P. I must have been one of the lucky ones, because mine runs great and fuel mileage is at 45. I did call V&H and talk to one of their people because the Xbones model wasn't ready. The person told me what numbers to use with my pipes (V&H) and Big Sucker. I'm not sure but, I think it was a special set of numbers, because it runs like a raped ape. I'm very happy with my combo and setup.
