I took the lipstick holder off my '09 so it's not a girl bike anymore.
Being 5'7", 140lb, 30' inseam, it's like they took my measurements and built this bike just for me.
I have no complaints, I came off two sportsters so it's definitely different but after some miles I feel quite at home on it and plan to change nothing significant.
I have an 08. I've put 8000 miles on it, 98% two up. We've ridden 3-400 miles one way many times. Rode two up with bags loaded and the big sac bag with the smaller roll bag on top and never bottomed out, so I see no need to change shocks. 07's had a reputation for running hot. I don't no if that was true. What I do know is that all TC motors, not just the Deluxe's run warm . All the newer engines are set up lean for emissions. A stage 1 and sythetic oil takes care of that no matter what model you buy. Because it is low, it is very easy to balance. Consequently,it does not feel as heavy as others in the softail family. The bags are expensive and small, but they lock. If you put duals on a Deluxe, many accessories that formerly wouldn't fit, will fit ie saddlebag guards. I think it's the best looking of all the softails, except for the origiinal FLSTS models, but my taste is slanted towards the nostalgia look.
love my 07 no problems ,great attention getter ,girl bike i dont think so .any bike a girl rides is a girl bike I see them on all models they just know wich one is best
If you are tall DO NOT buy this bike. I love my 08 and think it is the best looking bike Harley makes. However being 6'3" I can't take very long rides on it. I start cramping up after about 30 mins. They do make a tallboy seat but like someone else on here said they look like **** on the bike. I plan on keeping mine as long as I can find a way to modify it to fit me better.
Well if you are concerned about it running to lean, then put a set of Xieds on it and it wont get so hot and it also wont run lean,I put a set on my 07 ,and I pull 49 miles a gallon!!!!!
No problem putting saddlebag guards on the wife's 08.
I was referring to the larger (longer) Heritage type guards which won't work with the stock stacked exhaust, not the new deluxe shorter ones, as my example.
I am 6'3" 240 and ride one, sitting in it is a good way to put it. I have added a lot to mine to make the way I want it. I am going to look into shaving the seat as some guys have done and scooting myself back a bit. I also have a springer classic seat rail for the seat so I can add a lumbar pad too. If I cant find one at a decent price I will just make one. Once I put the mini apes on the bike I went from liking it to loving it. Pics are in my album. For the guys that have worked their stock seats over PM me a phone number if you dont mind I would love to ask a few questions. Chris
