Trying to figure out what else I need from someone who has done this. I have a 2002 Night Train. Picked up the following so far:

* 200 with wheel off an 06
* Struts
* Fender
* Seat

I do have a swing arm off an 06 but not sure if I absolutely need it.

I need to figure out the pulley/belt situation yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

you wont need to change swing arm!! you need at least a 5.5 wide tyre!.you will have to go with the narrow 06 belt and pulley!now the deuce can take a 200 under its rear fender,the problem with the softails is the fender! you will need a wider fender and struts to suit! i recently fitted a 18x5.5 on my bike,i am only running a 180 at the moment,a 200 may squeeze in,but probably have to to change to 06 belt and pulley,i bought a wide kit wheel of e bay,machined 13mm off hub, and 5.25mm off drive side axle spacer,and that was it,brake worked fine!! if you stay with a 17" instead of an 18" you will have to grind the brake tab a bit, and probably shave some off your brake too!

The rear brake assembly is different as well. It is a 2 piece. I would highly suggest you get a parts manual or a microfiche and look at the parts for a wide tire 06 or 07 setup and get the parts that are different from your part numbers. You will have to get the smaller belt as well for clearance. You can look at my pictures and past posts concerning this modification. I believe I listed ALL parts and part numbers necessary.

i got a 200 on my 02 with my stock swingarm & brakes. I also re-used my original struts by cutting, spacing & re-welding the frame horns and took 2 fenders to make a wide 1. All you nee is an an 18x5.5 wheel laced with new style softail hub and either a narrow new style belt & sprocket. i ended up switching to a chain instead. i'll try to take some pics & upload em.

I just took everything apart and started fitting things up. Definitely need the narrow belt and pulley, grind a bit off the brake tab and brake too, need to change the bearings in the wheel. Need to figure out what bearings I need.

Anyone happen to have the part number for the narrow belt pulley?

dont go chain!
just do a search on e bay for narower belt and pulley, or just buy a belt and pulley of 07 train,
swingarm has to come off to change belt, thats why i havent done it yet
remember on softail you will need the wider fender off later model too!00-06 fenders wont take 200 tyre. a deuce fender will so easier to go 200 on deuce

Why would you take a step back in time and go to a chain?! I have some of the parts you need to do the conversion but sold the pulley a couple of weeks ago on ebay. I have a wide tire 07 Nightrain fender with the harley tribar tail light as well that I am going to sell. It is gloss black. Originally purchased it to put on my Deuce but lost my job and can't afford to have it repainted to match my deuce. My earlier posts which you can look up just by clicking my name and then selecting all posts by has alot of information on doing this conversion. I did my as a complete bolt on and did not have to cut or weld ANYTHING! If you need more help send me a PM and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Guess I'm odd but I"m going w/ the chain conversion. Stronger,cheap and easy to change gear ratios, new x chains require almost no maintenance, & they look way cooler than a skinny a$$ bound to break belt.

I really like the looks of chain. all high performance bikes run them, even modern ones.. a guy i know used to write & rep for easyrider mag and he told me harley only switched to belts for maintenance because at the time chains werent maint-free like most high end ones are now. only reason they didnt switch back to chains is the dealers make a ton of $$$ from installing belts. belts arent going be changed by your average rider where chains can be changed by kids... i smell conspiracy theory, lol....
