Default brake rotor question???

i tried using the search but no luck so here is my question, i got a 96 heritage and i removed the saddle bags, i dont like the look of the stock solid rotor and i want to upgrade to the twin cam style rotors, but everything says it wont work but doesnt say why. they are both 11.5" rotors so is the bolt pattern different. im confused, or is it the center bore size?
i ordered a rear sprocket cover and i dont want to pull the wheel off twice so im trying to pick up a new rotor very soon to complete the new look, thanks for any help

I can't tell you why it won't work, but I can tell you that they can be re-drilled to your bolt pattern if need be. Also, if the center hole needs to be enlarged, a little time on the lathe or milling machine will fix that. Buy it and try it, if it doesn't look like it will work, you can always sell it.

there are plenty of great looking rotors for your year I have a 91 and it is easy to get a after market polished rotor,

I know what you mean about the stock ones.

but you can polish them to & they look great (lots of surface to shine )
if done correctly it will look like chrome and if taken care of the shine will last for its usefull life

yeah i have a good friend at a mach shop, so i might just order one and see what can be done, not really sure why i like the look of them over the after market ones so much but i do, was even thinking about getting a set of the h-d floating rotors that came on the badboy and early 1200 custom's too, i guess i can just order one and take the old one off to compare, ill be sure to take pics so if anyone else wants to update their bike and make it look a bit newer like me they can, i really just have the feeling the center bore hole is the only difference due to the larger axles that harley uses now, so we'll see, thanks for the input
