Welcome from Florida! Pick anyone, almost all the parts will interchange with the FatBoy, Heritage and Deluxe, but why would you want to. Just pick the one you like. They're all great bikes.
First off, thanks for all the welcomes guys. I was pretty set on the deuce for a while but I really like fatter tanks like the custom and standard have. I hav'nt seen any deuces with wider aftermarket tanks. Anybody got any pics?
The thing I really like about the fat tire bikes is that it would seem you could make it look like several different models just by changing tins, wheels, lights and windshields. I don't see much difference between a heritage and a deluxe and the fatboy just seems to be a sportier version of the two. There are things I like about all three, which makes it hard for me to decide. Seeing all the bikes on this site is'nt making my decision any easier.
just be sure that the tins fit either a carburated bike, or fuel injected.
I've seen several references on this Forum to Tanks for a Carb or FI. and as far as I know the tanks are the same. It's the fittings that are different. I just took a look in my 05 "Softail Parts Catalog" to verify it and it shows the same part # for the tanks whether for a Carb or FI. I assume this applies to all the models. I have a Carbureted Softail and put a tank on it that I bought on ebay which the seller stated came from a Fuel Injected bike and the petcock screwed in just fine and I have been running it or over 10,000 miles.
I had'nt even thought about fit yet. I'm 6', 3". Which bike fits a tall guy best? Is there much of a difference? No test rides for me till the snows gone.
Parts are interchangeable. Just added Heritage bars to my Fatboy because I am 6"2" and needed a taller bar with less pull back and installed Deluxe shocks to lower the rear.
No worries, which ever bike you choose you will enjoy it and spend $$$ on it
tough decision. you'll lose more sleep once you figure it out.
as others have said, you can change out a lot between the heritage and fatboy. i previosly owned a heritage and was in the midst of changing a lot out, but totaled it.. they are all great rides and i don't think you can go wrong on any of em.
good luck
