Hello everyone. I'm new to the site and new to Harleys. I am hoping to buy in the spring/summer, so I have all winter to try to decide what I want.
I'm torn between a deuce/custom and a fat tire bike such as a fatboy/heritage/deluxe. Believe it or not, that's narrowed down from where I started!
My question is this, how much interchangability of parts is there between the fatboy, heritage and deluxe? Can one bike be made to look like the other by changing tins and lights etc?
I will really appreciate any info. or experiences in reguards to my question. Just keep in mind that I'm new to this. Thanks!
There is some interchangability between the fatboy and heritage, but I'm not sure about the deluxe....I don't see why some parts wouldn't work. You can add a windshield and lights to a fatboy, and it'll look almost identical to a heritage (the solid wheels, front fender, and lack of bags are a dead give-away). If you're looking at an older one, just be sure that the tins fit either a carburated bike, or fuel injected.
If you can swing it, now would be the time to decide and buy one. There's some great deals on used ones floating around. They might not be around come this summer.
