I don't see what damage a fork bag will do to the paint if its mounted high enough--unless its a huge bag. You would have to bottom out the front end to make the fender touch a properly mounted fork bag on my bike. If you do that very often you will have bigger problems than fender paint!
I can see problems with rust or scratched chrome if the bag is left on all the time.
The front end will compress more than you think. Some models have more trouble with the bag rubbing the fender than others....Touring models will compress enough to bang the brake line tee bolt on the fender leaving a nice ding....ask me how I know.
I have an HD bag on my Fatty. It fits and looks pretty good I think. I did take it off to re attach the velcro. Looks kind of naked without it now. Doesnt hit the fender. It does rub the forks a little but anything would. Mounted with nylon straps and not a big deal.

did it and put a huge dent in oem front fender. now i mount mine on top the headlight to the risers no problem at all
If you are talking to me? I had the rims PC'ed all gloss black as well as a bunch of other parts but I'm sure you could buy them all ready done. I get a good deal from the guy that PC'ed all my parts the rims he did for $75.00 each.
About the rocker fork bag on my bike I have no problems with it coming close to the fender!
But on touring models I've heard that even a decal plate under the trips could hit the fender as for my Night Train never came close to hitting. Plus the bag is solid and hold a lot more then you would think. Good luck hope you find something you like.
