Default Vance and Hines baffles

I have a set of V & H Big Shots Long and want to tone it down a little. I read that V & H has a quite baffle you can put in these. Anybody have instructions on how to go about installing the baffles for these. I have a SERT also and will I need to have it put on the DYNO again? Where can I get the best buy on these baffles I don't want to go back to the dealer?

Can try Ebay and find a pair and don't have to worry about a remap I had the quiet baffles on my V&H Pipes on the Heritage and ended up going back to the standard basically it tones it down very little in all honesty and to me was a waste of money but your call..

I switched to quiet baffles on my longshots. They sound good at low and mid rpm, then go really quiet at highway speeds, you can barely hear them. The overall sound is a little deeper and they remove that annoying "splat" sound of the standard baffles. I would say that it was money well spent.

I agree, it is money well spent. It will take the sharp edge off of the sound that the standard ones produce, BUT they still bark real nice when you roll it on hard. If you can afford the remap, I would suggest it mainly because the standard baffles flow straight through, the quiet ones do not. The quiet ones will create some back pressure in the pipes which will give better scavenging, a good dyno guy will be able to use this to squeeze out some more power. Depending on how long your standard ones have been in will dictate how hard they will be to get out. Usually they are held in place with a single set screw, remove that and slide them out, probably will have to work at getting them out.

Hey Dixie,

Do you install the baffles yourself and if so, how much work was involved?
Currently, my longshots are baffle free.

Easy install. 2 bolts at the end of the pipes on the inside. Remove them and pull out the baffel. Some of the earlly pipes had to loosen or remove the heat shields to get to the baffel bolts. Mine were exposed and easy to get to.

Wrap the packing on the Quiet baffels with either a little masking tape ot wire to make it easier to install.

Should not take more than 15 minutes.
