I changed the packing on my V&H Straight Shot Slip-ons yesterday. And got to thinking about the BCT baffles and the way their built, you know with the washer-like center. And how they claim a deeper tone. So I decided to drill a 1/2 inch hole in the end of the Quiet baffles. I put the packing back on and installed the baffles.. Well the sound was a hair louder but the tone was deeper at idle and goin down the road.. I'm going to pull them back out and go with a little bigger hole and see what that does, sound wise.. Well just thought I'd share this incase some one else wanted to try it.. Later..
since we are in the mood for sharing, I recently removed my baffles out of my Big Radius's and I noticed crappy back pressure and a blairing farting sound when I first let of the gas. But I do love the loudness of the pipes. I was thinking of BCT baffles, but I got an idea. So I decided to chop my baffles down to a 5 inches. I didn't install them yet but I'll let you know how it comes out.
I have the same Straight Shots and did the same mod to the quiet baffles with a Unibit, I started with 7/16ths dia and worked my way to 5/8ths. 5/8ths seem just right.

Thanks for the info.
I have Big Shots but I believe the quiet baffles are the same. I just might give this a try. Did you install new packing in your quiet baffles?...Thanks.
I don't really like like my VH big radius pipes; they are too loud for my tastes...and they are actually annoying after awhile - in my opinion. I saw that there is a company that makes "quiet baffles" for the radius pipes. I am thinking about buying them but I'm sure if I would need to get my bike "tuned" and ran on the dyno again if I have these installed.

I tried that at first, but ended up notching the sides a bit. somewhere on here there used to be a tip about reversing the inner ring to make the baffle easier to remove, keeps the packing from wedging the baffle tight when removing.
I chopped the baffles I had in my Hookers in half and it got louder and did not lose all the back pressure. I also stuck a smaller BCT baffle inside of the stock baffles for additional back pressure. Sorry, no pics here.
I had a set of the BCT baffles. Didn't like the sound, and it seems as though the power band wasn't there. I went back to the quiet baffles from V&H, without the packing. I should just learn to leave things alone as the BCT baffles were just a waste of money.
