The way we found this out was, did run on dyno with no air filter.Took reading, then dynoed again with gerolomy filter and we could see the difference in the numbers. It was my call . Other wise i would not have bought it, but it was significent enough to me to spend the extra $. GOOD LUCK.

if you leave any air filter out in the elements long enough it will come apart...

FYI, I emailed Jamie at fuelmoto.com and he said a map adjustment is not necessary when switching from a SE Filter to the K&N Filter.

Myself and others I know have been running the 29442-990 SE air filters on Softails for a lot of miles, and I've never seen one coming apart...

Ride in some pretty dusty conditions (here in the windy, dusty lower midwest), and on average they are replaced every 7,000 or so miles.

I'm going to check with my Harley mechanic friend and see if he has heard about some kind of problem with these filters, but from past experience (myself and guys I ride with) this almost seems to be an exception and not a wide spread common problem.

Mine has about 8000 miles on it, so maybe I should have changed it sooner. I was thinking these filters were high mileage type filters like the K&N's.
