I finaly got the fit I needed on my '89 FXSTS
Went with Harley extended forward controls, +3" and chrome peg extenders, +2" forward & +3" out. Perfect. I'm 6-2 and knees were over the tank.

staying with this subject. this might seem like a dumb question. if i was to put extended controls on my bike (08 rocker) will i need to change out the shift linkage?
The kit I got from H-D was just over $200 & came with heavy steel extended plates, all the nuts & bolts needed, new trani rod, inside shift lever, longer brake hose with all new hardware & step by step instructions. Only thing I needed was some brake fluid.
This was after thinking of just getting the plates & figured it was the best package.

exactly...pretty simple to do...and worth the couple hundred
I wonder if I could get the same extension plate kit and use with my Harley fwds I just installed? I got the standard kit and want it farther fwd. Wonder if the wife will notice another $200 missing? Maybe my boss will start holding back a few bucks each payday and she'll never know. That could be the secret Harley fund. He's a Harley rider too, he'll understand
This seems like it could be a easy mod. I have a full sheet of 1/4" steel. I could make my own plates for the brackets to bolt to and move them fwd. Then have to deal with a brake line and shift rod. That's got me thinking. I have the metal and a plasma, so maybe I can save a few bucks
Got any good pics of the kit? Specifically the plates?
