Default attention do it yourselfers

Ok
so i have asked this once before and was told to get a service manual. i now have the 2008 softtail book, but still if you all dont mind ill ask so as to clarify before i put a wrench to my bike. as you will see from the attached photo im not completely stupid yes i stripped the tins from my crossbones for a new paint job.
here's the question..... before i reinstall the tank i want to change the rocker boxs to a powder coated cover ( i have them in hand ). i only want to do the tops and not the second layer. i have a new set of gaskets ... ok ok the question . when i remove the 6 allen heads will the top come off easy or from the heat will i need to apply a mallet or somthing else to get them off.
i can see that from the manual the sequence for removal but there is no further guidance.

any of you wrenches that have already done this id like some info.. please
thanx in advance

No heat. They should come off fairly easily. You might have to tap them with a rubber mallet. On absolute cold motor, it probably don't matter but I would still loosen them as per the manual. Good luck, Calvin.

My book for my softail shows a sequence and tells you to just break the bolts loose, then loosen each bolt 1/4 of a turn at a time; all done in sequence. Once a bolt is no longer touching the upper rocker box cover, just go ahead and remove it. Did you get the HD service manual? Edit: or a different brand of service manual?

I just took mine off also and I needed to tap them with a rubber mallet. Just do it easy and they will break loose.

You might have to give them a gentle tap with a rubber mallet or they might just slide right out. Later, Calvin.
