Don't know about all that, but I do know that's one pretty Heritage Softail Classic Softail Girl. Just love the Suede Blue and Vivid Black Combo. Right out of the '07 catalogue.

If I understand you correctly you're saying we can skip step 1 of the manual where it says to remove the fork tube plug and pull spring out of slider tube?.

That sure takes a good bit of work and worry out of the process.

Thanks for the tip.

Unless your changing the Springs there is no need to open that part up so yes that is what I'm saying. The manual don't forget is for servicing so they show the complete dissassembly. Just remove the top chrome Fork cover nut and loosen pinch bolt and the whole fork assembley slides out. Just slide it down easy so not to scratch the tube. Once that 6mm bolt is out the rest is cake...

Your right, it happens often. That's why I always do a ton of research comparing articles and posts to hopefully get the most accurate info. Talk to people that have actually done it and you can get some good advice.

If you see something inaccurate maybe you should comment on that instead of some general comment, that would be a bit more helpful I would think.

I think it is why I said maybe some else has a better idea. I did not think about it when I said that. When I removed my tubes I could of just removed the top fill cap and slipped them out. I did not even consider it.
It will make her job much easier.
When you did your tubes did you find either of the tubes or pinch bolts lose?
When I took my cover off both pinch bolts were only hand tight. one of the tubes was unscrewed about 1/8 inch.
I at this point unscrewed the tube to make sure nothing was wrong.
at least she knows not to unscrew the tubes and to just take off the caps.
Thanks for pointing it out.

Maybe we need someone who has recently changed to the chrome sliders, front, left and right rear back panels and slider covers (cow bells) to give us a step by step list of what is only NECESSARY to do instead of us getting confused by the manual which is showing us how to basically tear down and rebuild the front end. Is anybody up for it? I know I would appreciate it.
Thanks,

Mike NY, For example is it necessary to slide the gas tank back to unplug the wiring harness, or can I just unplug from the headlight? Seems I've heard conflicting instructions.

If you are going to replace the upper tins you have to unplug the harness under the tank. there is no way to slide the plug out of the headlight housing from the front.

if you slide the tank back make sure you unplug the fuel line first.
