Mines a 100 spoke American Wire Wheel and it was sealed and the valve stem installed by them. (tubeless) I had it mounted but the valve stem was gooped up with the sealant and would not take air. I had them remove the valve stem and put a tube in it. (It was a brand new tubless Metzeler) I should have had them do it from the beinging. 100 holes is alot of places for leaks!
I have the factory spoke up front which has a tube, but the rear is a Ride Wright wheel. I think is how you spell it, but it seemed to be sealed very good when I got it. The company is located in Cal.
tubeless was problem a while back when Harley made the switch because at the beginning there where leaks ans some accidents and Harley got sued, so now you see tubeless on the tires and some assume there tire has no tube. but it does all stock Harley spoke rims have tubes in them. you don't need them now because the system has gotten allot better but harley does not wat to take the chance and risk another round of law suites
Raaa,
those are awesome bars man, I am looking for a knock off on ebay (guessing those are RSD) I am going to lower the front 1", put gators , and put the black 12" (I am assuming these are what you got).
It's a shame the method BMW uses for their tubeless spoked wheels looks pretty bad. I had spoked wheels on a R1150GS I had for a little bit and they solved the problem by mounting the spokes on the outside edge of the rim. Of course, this means you can see the heads of the spokes around the edges, so it doesn't look that great.
I still keep looking to see if I can find decent cast wheels for my Springer that will not break the bank. To be honest, even though spokes look a bit nicer, the tubed tire situation plus the fact that the spokes are a pain to clean and unless the rear wheel is lined up it's often a pain to put air in the tire make me want cast wheels for the convenience.
does do look nice! but an odd size front wheel
21x3 not 21x2.75 or 21x3.5
I would watch that with a stock front fender and make sure what ever rim you get, make sure the spokes are polished stainless steel. I have seen some gorgeous rims on friends bikes and they get the spokes chrome and after 6 months the ends start to rust. one aint bad but when you look down and you see 20+ it is horrible. the cause is you have to tighten those spokes at service and the chrome gets broken
yeah mine are RSD. they look good on the wide glide front end. the only bike that looks as good on is the sportster
