Break In Secrets!!!! Good Article
Since I just did the 1550 big bore kit and 203 cams I wanted to get some different responses from somewhere else other than the dealer and manual. After getting my bike Dynoed the wrench that did actually told me to follow some of these rules. Just throwin it up for you guys knowing yall have done some winter mods yourself. Enjoy!!!

That's the way I'm braking in my winter time engine build. But SaintSlax11 I would like to know why the dyno then break-in? I'd always been advised to break-in for about 500 miles then have it dynoed. Anyway, I've got about 130 miles to go for that 500 mile number, then hope to turn some good numbers. But the smile on the face is better than some crappy o'l numbers!!!

Good article. I'll have to check it out further. I broke my bike in close to how Motoman is describing. First week I had my bike I would do maybe a half dozen runs in 2nd gear, maybe 70-80% throttle, from about 20-40mph then let it slow down to 20mph w/0 throttle. Next day another half dozen runs 80-90% throttle. Again the next day at 100% throttle maybe now from 20-45 mph. First couple sets tried to keep it under 4500 rpm. I did this during the first week over a three or four day time period. Good excuse to ride the bike during lunch. Bike seems to run pretty good. Uses absolutely no oil so far, hp and tq numbers are pretty good. Read about this years ago.

Ask a dozen bikers and you'll get a dozen different answers.
The method I've used on all my bikes over many years is when the engine is new (new bike or rebuild), ride 35 miles at various RPM but not over 3,500 RMP. Then let engine cool completely down. I'll do 30 in the morning before work, and 35 in the afternoon after work. After five or so days of this, I consider the bike broken in. I keep it under 5,000 RMP and don't go full throttle until after about 1,200 miles.
