I used high temp BBQ paint on mine. and it seems to be holding up real well..still looks good...Just take the time to prep the chrome . I just scuffed it up with some 200 grit..plus it only cost about 6 bucks to do.

raaaaaa, We are talking about heat shields, not the pipes themselves. You are right, powder will not hold up on the pipes.

I wish that were true. I know guys at a dealership that I worked at got kick backs to refer a horrendous painter.
When doing this type of "homework" it's always a good idea to talk to as many shops as possible to get a general concensus rather than take the advise of only one.

Just to throw a couple pennies' opinion in, I powdercoated my stock heat shields about 2 years and 15,000 miles ago with an Eastwood PC kit. I used satin black, and so far, there are no scratches or chips in the coating. It has faded a bit to more of a flat black, but that's it. At the same time, I coated the Screamin' Eagle mufflers with the same non-high-heat powder, and while the powder eventually 'wore' off at the very front of each muffler, the remainder looks as good as the heat shields- just faded to flat black. I didn't sand or scuff any chrome before coating, just cleaned 'em good with acetone. In fact, unless it's old chrome (or obviously flaking), I don't prep it at all aside from the final wipedown. So far, zero problems with the integrity of any of my coated parts.
