I've been really happy with it so far. Super easy to put on. And yeah, you have to cut the old tag holder off. If you take your time it will come out looking really clean.
well yes the plate holder is all part of the taillight assembly, but what im going to do is get my handy dandy dremel out and grind that shhhhiat off, but here is what i have bought
ok, so whats involved in mounting to the axel? puzzled's setup looks like the sprocket bolts are dangerously close the his mount.. does it go inside or outside of the swingarm? sorry to be a newb, but i have ever taken aapart these parts before..
ok jasper yes you can get the kit that mounts on the inside yes it is awefully close to the bolts but as long is there is that gap there won't be any problems unless that bolts start to back out now that would be dangerous reguarless if the plate is mounted like that or not. puzzled plate is really clean, but he also has a differant axel. ill take a picture of mine and ill show you what i mean.

i actually think the one like the road 6 customs one like yours, is more the way i am leaning.. and it is black too.. i am anxious to see your pics..
I bought the kuryakyn without the brake light. I kept my stock brake light where it is, but I used my dremel tool to cut off the excess plastic under the brake light. make sense?
this is the route i went and im liking it i just have to finish the job now.
that looks AWESOME.. unfortunately i cant do mine that way, cause i am running a leatherworks swingarm bag that is directly behind where you mounted yours.. otherwise thats what i would do - i dig it..
but because of the bag i am looking to mount mine on the axle..
i am guessing though that the mount like yours wouldnt have to be mounted inside the swingarm. i am thinking i could just remove the axle nut, put on the bracket and replace the axle nut using some lock-tite?
Whoadood's setup is nice, he get major props for home built ingenuity. My concern would be the passengers foot/peg. This is what I thought when I saw the Heartland bracket. X amount for a bracket and a frame and than having passenger boot marks and scuffs on it. Next up was having it that far forward. My local town doesn't give a crap about this stuff so all is good here. Now Florida on the other hand has a hard-on for what ever they can come up with. These are considerations when choosing a part. The bracket I posted is on a Rocker so the axle is different but the mounting is the same. Yes the bracket is close, enough so I could not use a zip tie to hold the plate light wire! I'd like a little more room than that than again if it doesn't hit it never will.
