Cutting the windshield
Picture is worth a thousand words:

Follow the instructions and you'll come out with a factory finish job.
Be conservative with the cutting height as you may not like the increased buffeting you may get if you make it too short. And you can't put it back on.
I just wanted to drop it down so the top wasn't in my line of sight and that meant taking off about 3/4". Now it's perfect for me. I think level with the the tip of the nose is a good rule of thumb.

Also, this just happened to be the nicest day of the year so far, its 68 and sunny out.@#$%^&*^%> first day above 65 this yr I think, would have been my 4th ride of the year....oh well gotta have cams and the snow has melted..
that is popular with he short people, or is it polical to say the little people. anyway a few here have done that but took it to the pros at a plexiglass co and had it cut and it turned out like stock
At 6'2" I not what I'd call short, I still had to look through it unless I sit upright then I could see over it. If I relaxed I then had to look through it and sometimes the very edge of the shield was in my line of view.
I have rode twice, short trips since cutting and so far I cant tell or feel any less protection from the wind and it been cold. The air still goes up and over the top of my head.
After reading all that I could find on wind buffering on the Heritage shield and after seeing the change Harley made this year to it, that was the 1-2 punch.
I haven't tried it yet with a helmet on but I hope it has helped, can't hurt! The wind buffering from the shield while wearing my helmet used to constantly shake my head side to side so bad it blurred my image at highway road speeds. The buffering never bother me riding without a helmet.
Plus I like the new look better.

I am a retired Sheetmetal and Millwright with 38 years in skilled trades. So the tools and experience I have in cutting and fitting is what I have done my whole working life. I could still work at most of the pro shops and have even trained and helped a couple of them.

There is a guy here in OR who will do it for about $20. Pretty cheap and the dealerships recommend him highly. I usually do things myself because it's a good reason for buying new tools. DYI or pay. For those who have done it yourselves would you say it is still cheaper to do it at home? I need about an inch off.
