someone please kick me in the arse...
I am mechanically inclined...Ive just never done anything mechanical before...too busy runnin around chasing women I guess...lol Anyways I cant convince myself to buy parts and work on my own bike. I just want to take it to someone and have them do it. But then I really want it to be my bike and say to people I did the work on it...and be proud of it.
All I am doing is Kuryakyn hypercharger, VH BR 2-2s and a PCV. I will leave the normal services to people who know what they are doing. Is this feasible for me to safely do all this and not damage the bike? On another note...I dont have any tools what-so-ever....
I will not be getting the Autotune module so I am guessing I need to DL a map for the PCV, get it running and then take it to a dyno shop. Does that make sense? Or should I have someone tow it?
Can someone honestly tell me whether this is something I can do and be proud of or end up hating myself and costing more money?
THanks VK BTW its a rocker c
My biggest concern is not mucking anything up mechanically with installing the pipes and air breather and missing out on a lot of riding this spring...honestly Im just asking someone to smack me and tell me to just do it...
Oh and the money you will save will pay for the tools you need ... get a good torque wrench, a set of Allen wrenches, a set of torx (sp?) bits, some standard sockets in regular and deep well sizes, and some socket wrench extensions to get to the hard to reach areas.

Don't know about the PC-V, but the rest can be done with patience and beer. I have seen a few threads on the PC and finding a good place for it on the Rocker. You may have to get creative. I did TTS (just plug up to laptop), which was fairly easy after I read the directions.
The bolts at the head of the pipes can be tricky to get to. I used one of those angle things on the socket and finally got it. Other than that, cake.

Save the money you would be giving to someone else, buy the tools needed and service manual, and you will have saved a lot of money in the long run. The mechanics are basically using the same information that you have in your hands, so nothing can be that hard.
After that. I did the pipes/power commander/air intake all myself. felt great afterwards.
After HD service has failed me a few times with issues after dropping money on the 1K/5K service and forward control ext. install, i decided I would do most things by myself or consult someone I trusted and have them help if needed.
Nothing is out of your reach, and at least if something is messed, i can blame myself and now worry about the $400 i paid for someone else to mess it up (like HD SERVICE did on my ext. kit and had no rear brakes after 25 miles of driving).
