I can't remember the name of the inserts I have, they were done at Daytona in 2012 and have a frame around the opening. They still look like new.
I use Chilhowee Buffalo Oil about once a month. They have never leaked and I live in Florida where it's almost always raining and I've got 25k on this bike in 2 years.
Leatherpro is my bag of choice. Had em on several HD's.
Don't mean to hijack the thread but it looks like it's played out anyway. I've been looking at the leatherpro bags and like the looks of yours. Could you tell me what size or model number they are? Nice lookin' Deluxe there!
Thx krustee, leatherpro LP4080, it has the basket weave and stitched edge to match the deluxe. If you dont care about the basket weave and stitching, u can get the LP4000 and save yourself $180 or so. Thats actually $100 and some cheaper than the hd deluxe bags. They r easily removable and lock two ways. I luv them and can put laptop, helmet, and just about anything I carry around in them. They will not fit with stock exhaust because they are long, up and down, and would hit the top pipe. If your pipes are around or below the rear axle, ure good. By the looks of your pipes, you should be good.
Cocky, thanks for the info. I've got some cheap bags now but they are too small. I don't care for the HD bags. Too small and don't fit the nostalgic theme. I'm running V&H Big Shots Long and I like the bags low and tight to the fender.
I did plenty of research on how to solve the saggy bags on my 2007 Heritage. I did not want to have to glue a bunch of inserts. I bought Papabags, which is just a rectangular frame that is cleverly designed. They took about 30 minutes to install--make sure you pay close attention to where to put the nuts and washers--and I am very happy with the result.
The bags still look natural, they are not stiff or brand new looking, but these frames sort of "teach" the bags how to fall back into their original shape. $120 seemed a bit steep, but I am really happy with them.
I purchased a used 2007 FLSTC like new, but without the saddlebags.
I have purchased the bags from HD but no mounting instructions were included and the dealer has not been as yet able the provide them and they are not available on HD web, or at least I can't find them. To top it off I believe they haven't provided all the required hardware.
Does anyone have instruction, diagrams or anything else to help me with this.
