Default Installing Apes on 03' Heritage

Got the bars mounted, the throttle and idle cables hooked up, the clutch cable hooked up at both ends....Now the issue.

I need to splice the wires on both sides..What is the best way to do it, just cut each side in the center of the harness from the tank area to the bars, or?..Also, would you solder them, or use connectors, and then shrink wrap?...Thanks

are you talking about the wires comming from the switch housings? you can buy exstensions from harley or aftermarket like j and p, and I belive you don't have to cut your wires.

Yes,

The wires coming up for the turn signals, horn, start switch, etc...It looks like under the tank that the wiring harness is solid and no connectors anwhere to add length to.

I know on the 09's there is a connector and J&P has the parts to make them longer.

yeah you take the connector off the end. (you can push them out with the end of a paper clip) and add the exstesions. they unplug under the tank you have to remove or lift your tank.

Never used the extensions....sounds easier than soldering and heat shrink....then pulling all of the wiring threw a set of 18" Z-Bars!!!

I would heat shrink regardless just in case of moisture.

Are you running the wiring "threw" the bars.... because sometimes the connectors are to large to run inside the bars.

=1 heat shrink the wire's, but you can still pull them threw the inside of the bars. just helped a budd pull his inside his lowrider bars!

I wanted to hide them in the bars, and still will if the can get the wires to fit with the connectors..Cleans up the look..Got everything done now but the wires..I will lift the tank and see where the connectors are.
